I think the iPad screen size's will only have a positive effect on the apps that developers can build.  I've recently completed an iPhone app for my Degree Project and the constraints of the iPhone screen were a nightmare which severely limited my app,  having all the additional space of an iPad would have been brilliant for me.

I wasn't overly struck with the iPad on release,  seeing iWork started to gain my interest but the main issue for me is the 3G option.  I find the lack of Internet during the day really limits the usefulness of my iPod Touch and Macbook Pro whilst I'm at work.  I could buy a USB dongle and pay a monthly contract but I'd still only gain limited benefits from it via the MBP.   The Touch would still have no Internet unless I start sharing the MBPs dongle connection via a wireless router.   Having an iPad with yet another contract just doesn't make sense,  although I could again share the MBP.     If I buy an iPad I probably wouldn't even want to carry the MBP and might even sell it.
Either way its all getting very messy and complicated.

Then I saw Don's Blog posts about MiFi over at The Mac Screencast Guy  which grabbed my attention.  One device which would allow all my others to connect, now that sounds just what I needed, and  even better it would allow me to buy the cheaper non 3G iPad.   Cool

Apple will entice a brand new audience that doesn't want (and more to to the point doesn't need) all the technicalities of a notebook or Netbook.  I know a number of people who buy expensive Windows laptops and MacBooks simply to surf the web, write a few emails and watch a few movies, what a waste, and I include myself in that group BTW.  Let's be honest, is having the latest processer really going to render you eBay pages much faster?

I'm pretty happy with my iPod Touch at home as it is now, an inexpensive easy to use table that did the same things with a bigger screen would be a clincher…. having the iPod OS (OSX in short trousers?) will be the icing on the cake for me..

Yeah, I have a 15" MBP... $2000+ laptop.  I used to do a little more, but not much... these days it is used for web browsing, email (gmail), calendar, OmniFocus... thats about it.  Chat sometimes.  Can you say overkill...

I bought my Macbook Pro for Uni so it has served me well for the last few years,  but now that I've just finished Uni, the missus seems to have found it a new home on Facebook  Embarrassed

Even the iPad would be overkill for her needs  Tongue

The 3G one came out yesterday and there is a camera kit to give you SD and USB (with limited usage)

So your only complaint is no Flash and Adobe hasn't yet released flash for any mobile device, so it isn't on Apple until they do.  And even then, go read Jobs' post about flash, it is hard to argue with.

*Some may note that this thread has been moved. Sorry if it confuses  anyone, but it is iPad related.

BTW. Apple won't put Flash onto their devices. It's been said and that's how it will stay. HTML5 is the future so why put old technology onto a new device.

Of course they will leave it open to any new OS and Hardware like iMacs and MacBooks for a long time at this stage. But Flash will fade and be forgotten in good time on any Computer.

And I don't really understand the issue about not having a USB port, what for? When you plug it into the computer, the adaptor is USB. And really when you look between different phone models, their plugs differ on the phone ends to USB, so what's the BIG with the iPad?

But I've done one payment so far toward getting an iPad, and wow, 3G is out? Then when they come Down Under they should have them then. But have to decide, pre-order is on the 10th, so we'll see. Release at the end of May so it's going to be a slow month for me LOL

This is a Paper my brother did about the iPhones restrictions and how he believes it will kill the internet. He has some good strong argument that would be hard to deny that he is right. He is one-sided anti iPhone and the release of the iPad is the reasoning in coming up with it. If anyone leaves in iPhones defence cool, but boo to any supporters LOL

Just let you know it's bit of a long read too, so make sure you're not to busy, but I'd be interested to here what people here think about what he wrote.

Lips Sealed comment by a Harry is me to cover my identity so he doesn't kill me LOL  Lips Sealed

Any and all iPad SCO shows would be welcome.

Sounds to me like those bemoaning the lack of Flash on the iPad spoke similarly with the floppy on the original iMac
