In this week's tip video we take a look at managing your WiFi connections on both the Mac and iOS.

If you're an iCloud user and switch on iCloud Keychain Sync, the details of all WiFi hotspots you connect to will be synchronised across all your devices - including the WiFi passwords too.

This can be extremely useful, but after a while you'll most likely end up with a huge list of WiFi networks on your devices, many of which, you'll never visit again.

Watch this week's tip video to learn how to manage your ever increasing list of WiFi networks.

With the introduction of iCloud Drive Desktop and Documents sync in macOS Sierra, I felt it was time to revisit the how, what and where of backups.

Even with the prevalence of online backups and services, local backups are still advisable including bootable backups if you want to get back working in a hurry. In this episode, I take you through the principles of creating a local bootable backup to a USB drive, as well as setting up a Time Machine backup to the same USB drive.

In addition, I demonstrate using a NAS or Network Attached Storage device (in my case a Synology NAS) as an expandable Time Machine Backup.

Another requirement is to sometimes backup or sync files across two Macs or more, and I demonstrate setting this up using ChronoSync and ChronoAgent on your Mac.

Finally, I take a look at the recent changes to iCloud Drive with Desktop and Documents sync and assess how these changes impact on your backup strategy, as well as demonstrating how to restore deleted files and folders from iCloud Drive within the 30 day limit.

Summary & Description iCloud has grown and grown since it was first launch and confuses many people.

iCloud Family Sharing is a great way to both reduce and manage the costs of buying Apps, Music, Videos and iBooks.

Up to six Family Members can pool their current purchases and share access with each other. With the iCloud Family Sharing “Organiser in place, all purchases can be made with a single credit card, and if you have kids, you can authorise all requested purchase with “Ask To Buy.

With the soon to be launched MUSIC App, you’ll also be able to get a Family membership plan - six individual accounts for just $14.99.

You may have been putting it off, but now might be a good time to checkout iCloud Family Sharing.

So you’ve secured your access to your online services with a strong password, but is that enough?

Some services are so important that it may be time to consider an extra level of security - two factor authentication or verification.

In this tutorial, I take a look at five popular services that now allow you to switch on this higher level of security, and use your phone to confirm your identity - Apple ID, Google, DropBox, Evernote & Twitter

Two parts to this week's tutorial - PopClip and iCloud Web Apps.

PopClip is a brilliant utility that mimics the popup that appears when you select text in iOS, but on your Mac. As well as allowing you to copy and paste, it now also allows you to install extension to do all sorts of things with the selected text.

iCloud Web Apps are just like the standard apps you find on your Mac and iOS device - but on the web!
