Tutorial Description

Did you know, Mountain Lion Server can be used to host web sites and run your own Wiki!

In this week's show, Todd Olthoff continues his exploration of some of the typical features uses that home users and small businesses might benefit from, this time looking at hosting your own website and sharing information via a Wiki.

For most people, an externally hosted website is probably the best solution, but it is possible to host your own website using OSX server. If your OSX Server is not accessible from the Internet, perhaps it might be useful for your local network or Intranet.

OSX Server allows you to set up a Wiki, a website that allows it's users to add files or add/modify content, making it ideal to share information with family or colleagues.

These tasks are not to be taken lightly and do required some skills and background knowledge of some fairly technical subjects, and as such they are not aimed at inexperienced Mac users. In addition, everyones setup may be slightly different and it's impossible for us to give specific guidance on your own particular setup. However, even if you have no wish to setup your own server, I'm sure you'll find the screencast interesting and it's fascinating to see the inner workings of OSX server.
