Tutorial Description

A show of two parts this week (well three really!)

First I take a look at a great application for sharing your Mac keyboard with your iOS devices over Bluetooth - Type2Phone. Seamlessly switch between your Mac, iPad, iPhone, even your Apple TV. Type2Phone has recently been updated with some great new features including the ability to send VoiceOver commands to your iOS device. Used in conjunction with Keyboard Maestro, you can create some powerful automation macros for your iPad or iPhone. It even allows you to use Mountain Lion Dictation to enter text on older iOS devices not supporting Siri dictation.

Secondly, I take a look at similar solution using a dedicated Logitech keyboard, although limited to just three Bluetooth devices. The Logitech Easy-Switch Bluetooth keyboard is a fully featured, backlit Mac keyboard with three dedicated keys to switch between different Bluetooth devices. I show you how to set it up to switch between your Mac, iPad and iPhone with just the press of a key,

Finally, I explore some of the features in Piezo, a simple audio recorder from Rogue Amoeba. Capture any system audio or audio from any application on your Mac. Even capture Skype calls.

The terminal command I used to clean up my LaunchServices database was:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

Great tutorial as usual Don, and Type2Phone looks very useful. Will it work if you have the full size USB keyboard connected to an iMac rather than the Bluetooth wireless keyboard? I'm assuming yes, as it's the iMac that's discoverable rather than the keyboard itself?

Hi Colin, It should work just fine with a wired keyboard. As you say, it is the Mac bluetooth that is in operation.

Don,
The problem in relation to multiple listing of applications has been bugging me for some time. Thank you for the solution
