Agenda - Note Taking

Date: 27th July 2018

Duration: 39:17

Show ref: SCOM0755

One thing we're not short of is note taking apps for the Mac or iOS.

Agenda approaches note taking in a new and unique way. With close integration with your calendars, you can now organise and access your notes based on events. With a beautiful user interface and a full-featured editing environment, Agenda can adapt to many different functions to boost your productivity and make you more organised.

Available for both macOS and iOS, Agenda utilises iCloud for seamless syncing between all of your devices and recently was awarded an Apple Design Award at WWDC 2018.

Agenda is free (and will remain so) but has a unique business model to ensure the app is continually developed and supported: An in-app purchase option unlocks current premium features, and any new ones that are added in the twelve-month period following the purchase. Agenda does not have a subscription model.

In this week's full tutorial, Don shows you Agenda in great detail on the Mac, including its current premium features. He also goes over the app on iPad, showing some of the main features so you can see how they translate to iOS.

OneNote is a note-taking application from Microsoft that can be used on Mac and iOS. You can type, write or draw with the free form feel of pen to paper. OneNote allows you to search and add clips from the web to better illustrate your ideas. Tags can be used to sort and order your notes so you can easily find them later. Collaborate with anyone, stay on the same page and in sync wherever you are!

OneNote is also adept at handwritten notes on iOS, allows you to highlight what's important and express ideas with colors or shapes. It's easy to pull up your content from anywhere, even if you're offline. You can start on your laptop then update notes directly on iPad.

In Part 2, we move on to cover more advanced features in OneNote on Mac and IOS. We look at inserting audio and video, clipping information from the web, as well as sharing notebooks for collaboration.

Following on from last week’s show, if you work with a group of people or need to collaborate on a project or task, Podio is for you!

Podio is a free web based service that allows you to create Apps and Workflows to monitor and control collaborative working. Don't be put off by the terminology, it's actually more useful and less intimidating than it sounds.

In this episode, I take a look at adding extra functionality to your Podio apps by adding App Workflows - a really easy way to create re-usable task lists to assign to people with a Podio “job. I also take a look at accessing the App market to download hundreds of pre-designed Podio Apps for free, to use as is, or to use as the basis for your own Podio apps.

Podio - Building Collaborative Workflows - Part 1

If you work with a group of people or need to collaborate on a project or task, Podio is for you!

Podio is a free web based service that allows you to create Apps and Workflows to monitor and control collaborative working. Don't be put off by the terminology, it's actually more useful and less intimidating than it sounds.

Since mentioning Podio as the as the tool I use to manage my ScreenCastsOnline workflow on the recent Mac Power Users podcast, I've been inundated to give an overview on how it works. You can use Podio to manage virtually anything, from projects, business processes, community groups, event planning, marketing, research, personal development, hobbies, the list is endless.

No coding is required and if you don't fancy starting from scratch, there are hundreds of free apps and templates available in the App Market to use as is, or to use as a basis for your own workflows or processes, or even just to give you a bit of inspiration.

This first of a two part show gives you an introduction to Podio, and demonstrates how to build a Podio app from scratch.
