Airmail is not a new email app, but with the advent of Airmail 3 for the Mac and Airmail 1.1 for the iPad and iPhone, it's actually a very robust and feature packed alternative to the standard Apple Mail client.

In this first of a two part series, I take a look at setting up Airmail with an iCloud account and a Gmail account, followed up by a look at some of its basic features.

In two weeks, (SCOM0563), I'll take a look at some of the more advanced features and customising Airmail.

The full tutorial covers:

  • Installation & initial Setup
  • Processing Emails
  • Task Management
  • VIPs
  • Multiple Email Accounts
  • Sending Emails
  • Airmail on iPad
  • Airmail on iPhone

Is there an option to filter only the unread mails? In Apple mail there is no such possibility so I have to scroll sometimes for hours to search for an unread mail within thousands of read ones.

I'll be covering filtering and some more advanced topics in this weeks episode.

Many thanks for this week's show! I've been using Airmail for Mac for quite some time and added Airmail for iOS just a few weeks ago . . .thought I'd discovered all the tricks but as usual you have uncovered some fantastic features (use of colors, VIP settings, integration of contacts). Looking forward to Part 2!

Don,
Do you find a problem with Snoozed emails that keep reappearing on the iPad and iPhone *before* they are due to reappear? I find when I snooze something, if I navigate away from the folder I'm in or into another app and then return, often that recently snoozed email just comes back! Is this a bug or am I missing something? Just wondered if you too have experienced this?

Hi Bryan, I've not noticed that with snooze although I don't snooze emails that much. However, I have noticed it with mails that I archive (I archive a lot of emails) and the sometimes re-appear in the mailbox even though I've archived them. They disappear if I exit the mailbox and return. Quite annoying and probably a bug. You've reminded me to report the bug and I suggest you do the same for the snooze issue.

Don,

Have you been able to set up Airmail with Microsoft Outlook 365 or with Active Sync.

Thanks
Santosh

Hi Santosh, I'm afraid not, I'm not an Outlook user.
